The Supreme Court of Texas issued an emergency order authorizing the modification of deadlines in certain justice courts affected by Hurricane Beryl.
The Court, upon request of local judicial leaders, is allowing justice courts in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Houston, Matagorda, and Montgomery counties that have been prevented from complying with a deadline in a civil case because normal operations have been disrupted by Hurricane Beryl to postpone statutory deadlines until July 31, if the court finds the postponement necessary to allow for the resumption of the court’s normal operations.
