Scott Golemon was born in 1959 in Houston, Texas, but he lived in Beaumont, Texas twice as a child, so he feels like he has come full circle when he became Chief Justice of the 9th District Court of Appeals in Beaumont on January 1, 2021. Scott had more of a rural background in farming, ranching and construction, who felt at home on a horse, tractor or heavy equipment. Scott worked his way through A&M's Tarleton State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1983 and a Master of Science Teaching Degree in 1984 before receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the University of Houston in 1987. Before becoming Chief Justice, Scott had 33 years of experience in civil jury trials and handling appeals across most of Texas representing plaintiffs and defendants in areas of personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, products liability, construction, real estate, business, consumer, contracts, fraud, deceptive trade practices, oil and gas, etc. Above all of Scott's attributes are his love for God and family, strong work ethic and service to the community. Scott is a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and serves on the Calf Scramble Arena Committee. He is also a Life Member of the Montgomery County Fair Association where he has served as Lifetime Vice President, Lifetime Executive Committee, Officer-In-Charge of the Livestock Show, Officer-In- Charge of the Livestock Auction, Scholarship Committee, and many other positions and committees, and was honored with its Committeeman of the Year Award. Scott has been on the Board of Directors and past President of the Montgomery County Bar Association, Chairman of the Judges and Lawyers Buyers Group and Chairman of the Courthouse Appreciation BBQ for 25+ years. Scott also served on the Board of Directors and past President of the Tarleton State University Alumni Association and was honored with its Outstanding Young Alumnus Award.

Scott and his wife, Doris (who was born in Jefferson County and lived in Groves as a child), have shared 34 years of marriage, raised four boys and now have three grandsons and finally one granddaughter. Scott and Doris are members of Grace Crossing Church of Christ, where he serves as Special Events Deacon. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, farming, ranching, camping, BBQ'ing and charitable benefits.
