William E. Burdock (1983 to 1988)

William “Bill” E. Burdock was born on April 28, 1942, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He attended Utah State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in 1967. After graduating from college, he briefly served in the U.S. Army before earning his law degree at Southern Methodist University.

After graduating from law school, Burdock was hired by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office and eventually worked his way up to felony prosecutor.  After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, he opened his own law practice in Saginaw.  In 1982, he successfully ran for a seat on the Second Court of Appeals, where he served from 1983 to 1988.  In 1990, he ran for the 371st District Court in Tarrant County, waging a successful write-in campaign.  After leaving full-time judicial service, he served as a visiting judge throughout Texas and as a municipal judge in the cities of Blue Mound, Rhome, River Oaks, Lake Worth, and Edge Cliff Village.  He also served as an attorney for the cities of Haslet, Blue Mound, and the Lake Country Municipal Utility District.

In addition to his judicial service, Burdock served the public as a member of the Saginaw City Council and the Eagle Mountain Saginaw School Board.  He passed away on May 18, 2017.
