Lawrence Edward Meyers (1988 to 1992)
A native of Fort Worth, Lawrence Edward Meyers received his undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University and his J.D. from the University of Kansas. He later earned his LL.M. from the University of Virginia.
Meyers began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in Montgomery County, Texas. After leaving the district attorney’s office, he worked in private practice for a few years before opening his own firm. In 1988, he was elected to the Second Court of Appeals where he served for four years. In 1992, he was elected to the Court of Criminal Appeals, where he served until 2017. During his tenure as a judge, he became board certified in both criminal and appellate law.
After leaving the Court of Criminal Appeals, Meyers continued to serve as a visiting judge for many years before retiring.
