Samuel James “Sam” Day (1990 to 2003)

Samuel James “Sam” Day III was born November 8, 1928, in Eastland, Texas.  He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas.

After graduating from law school, Day entered private practice where he worked from 1954 to 1989, eventually becoming a senior partner for McDonald, Sanders, Maddox, Newkirk, and Day.  In 1989, he was appointed by Governor William Clements as a justice for the Second Court of Appeals and served on the court until he retired in 2003.  After retiring, he continued to serve as a visiting judge.

He died on November 13, 2005, and was buried in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas.
