Thomas J. Renfro (1951 to 1969)
Thomas Jefferson Renfro was born on October 7, 1902 in Tarrant County, Texas. He received his undergraduate education at Howard Payne College. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1927. Renfro was elected to the Texas Legislature in Comanche County at the age of 21, and he served two terms. He was the youngest representative to be seated at this time.
Justice Renfro was in private practice from 1927 to 1933. He served the 43rd Legislature in Tarrant County from January 10, 1933 to January 8, 1935. He served on the 96th District Court starting January 24, 1946 until June 1, 1951. Renfro was also a representative of the 101st District of the Texas House of Representatives. Then he served on the Second Court of Appeals in Place 2 from June 1, 1951 to October 31, 1969 when he retired. During this period, he was the Chair of the Judicial Section State Bar of Texas from 1957-1958. He passed away February 5, 1987.
