James Milton Presler (1908)

James Milton Presler was born on September 23, 1855, in Washington County, Texas. He attended multiple universities, including Trinity University and Southwestern University, before finishing his schooling at Texas A&M University.

Presler practiced law for several years before being elected as a state senator, a position he held from 1893 to 1899. After leaving the senate, he returned to law and was appointed by Governor Thomas Campbell as an associate justice of the Second Court of Appeals in 1908.  He served for less than a year before stepping down.

After returning to private practice, Presler served as a trustee of Polytechnic College and as a regent of the University of Texas. He continued practicing law until he died on March 17, 1923. He was buried in North Fairview Cemetery in Hall County, Texas.
