A.J. Power (1933 to 1934)
Andrew Jackson (A.J.) Power was born on August 18, 1878, in Breckenridge, Texas. He graduated from Jacksboro College in 1895 and received his law degree from Washington and Lee University in 1901. From 1901 to 1933, he practiced law in Breckenridge and Fort Worth. He served terms as county attorney and county judge in Stephens County as well as Assistant Texas Secretary of State.
In 1933, he was appointed to serve out the remainder of Justice Irby Dunklin’s term on the Second Court of Appeals, which ran through the end of 1934. In 1935, he was appointed as judge of the 96th District Court in Tarrant County, where he served until 1946. He passed away on January 17, 1946, at the age of 67. He is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.
