Truman H. Conner (1898 to 1933)

Truman H. Conner was born on December 5, 1849, in Miami County, Indiana. He attended Marvin College before studying law under multiple judges and at the law department of Trinity University.

After Conner had been practicing for several years, Governor Lawrence Ross appointed him as district judge for the 42nd Judicial District where he served until he was elected as Chief Justice of the Second Court of Appeals in 1898.

Conner served as Chief Justice until his death in 1933. At the time of his death, his thirty-five years of continuous service as a judge was the second longest such tenure in the United States. He was buried in Eastland City Cemetery in Temple, Texas.
