Irby J. Dunklin (1930 to 1940)
Irby J. Dunklin was born on September 11, 1857, in Greenville, Alabama. He attended the University of Georgia and moved to Texas shortly after graduating in 1880.
He was elected judge of the 48th Judicial District Court in 1887. Around this time, he became heavily involved with the Gladney Center for Adoption, and both he and his wife served on its board of directors. After eleven years as a district judge, Dunklin was elected as Chief Justice of the Second Court of Appeals.
He served as Chief Justice until 1940, when he announced his retirement. He died on November 16, 1949, and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth.
