About Texas Courts
Registering a Specialty Court with OCA
Under Section 121.002 (c) of the Texas Government Code, a Specialty Court program may not operate until the following items are provided to OCA, and the program receives written notice from OCA confirming compliance with registration requirements:
- written notice of the program,
- any resolution or other official declaration under which the program was established,
- and a copy of the applicable community justice plan that incorporates duties related to probation and supervision that will be required under the program. This could also be satisfied with a copy of the program policy and procedures manual, a participant handbook, or any similar documentation of the program's operations.
These three requirements (including document upload) can be completed on the Specialty Court Registration Portal.
To report updates for a specialty court program, such as name changes, judge/coordinator contact changes, court of jurisdiction changes, etc., please complete the Specialty Court Registration Update Form.
To remain in good standing as a specialty court, programs must also comply with any required data reporting, regardless of funding source.
