COURT SETS RESCHEDULED HEARING ON LEGAL SERVICES
Texas Supreme Court justices will take testimony Wednesday on needs and accomplishments by state legal aid organizations providing civil law services for the poor.
The public hearing, set for 2 p.m. in the Court’s courtroom in Austin, will feature reports from the Texas Access to Justice Commission and the State Bar of Texas. This is rescheduled hearing after one in September was canceled because of Hurricane Ike.
The Texas Access to Justice Commission serves as the umbrella organization for all efforts to expand access to justice in civil matters for low-income Texans. It was created as a result of hearing on the status of low-income legal services in September 2001.
